Vlog Update

Instead of writing out the results of Gab's most recent doctor appointment and test results along with my views on the problems we are dealing with in the public school system, I decided to vlog it. After watching my vlog below if you have any advice please leave me a comment with your tips or thoughts.

Again thank you for stopping by and taking time to listen to our updates!

Hi there!
Wow! sounds like you have your hands full! I am so sorry you are going through what you are. Either my hearing has gone bad, or really bad speakers, but I think I have the jest of it. First: the hernia, if it is small, not blocking anything, and not hurting her...I don't think surgery will be needed (I'm a nurse, but not pediatric) Secondly, about school. Let me tell you I've battled the school systems and really don't have much faith in many teachers. Is Gabby on an IEP. Many Many people have told me, and I will pass it along to you, that if she is, they HAVE to bend to your chlds needs. I have a child with a heart defect. Third, you are your daughters advocate, don't give up.
You can email me if you'd like, cachech@hotmail.com if you'd just like to talk or chitchat.

As a homeschooling mom of a 1st grader and should be 3rd grader I understand your fears. Don't worry about sounding selfish because it is true that you would have no free time. I go crazy sometimes because I am with the kids ALL the time. I am married and he does try to help but I am sometimes made to feel quilty about needing alone time. I would suggest that you keep pushing the school system but also make them give you the material she has covered and in the evenings or on the days she isn't in school do flashcards or fun games with her to help her remember the things she needs to remember. Their are some Leap Frog Dvd's that would be great too. They do the alphabet in a fun way and you wouldn't be the one always repeating things the video would. Look into learning songs too. We don't have the problems you do but we do have problems with our 8 year olds short term memory so I know the importance of repeating and it can get very wearing. I will be praying for you. Come to my blog and contact me if you ever want to.

I don't really know much about homeschool but I know if it does come to that you will be great at it!

I do want to say it's not selfish of you to want alone time. It's natural to want to refresh yourself, gather your thoughts, go through your feelings, and anything else.

I wish you luck with the meeting and I'm praying for you!

I am so sorry about all that you are going through. I want to say a few things

1) I admire you for not totally freaking out because I think I would have by now. To reach out and try to get assistance is the right thing to do.

2) You are absolutely not a bit selfish for feeling overwhelmed now or feeling overwhelmed with the idea of your daughter home 24/7. I think it is a rarity to find someone that does not need their own time. I was once a single mom, and it is very hard to give everything you have to your kids and not get that 'something back' from another adult.

3) Is your daughter in IEP classes now, they are usually more one-on-one. I think I have the initials right.

4) I will research this more and get back to you with anything that I find.

I would also like to talk to you one-on-one about the business opportunity we are both involved with. Maybe we can come up with some ideas that will help you on a financial level as well, so eventually you won't have that extra concern as well.
